On Saturday Joe and I decided to go fishing again in our "lucky" spot. We packed up our stuff and headed to the beautiful river. We got there about 12pm, parked our truck with the ten other vehicles there, I put my purse under the seat, locked up the truck and headed through the woods to the river. After a couple of hours most everyone had left and we found ourselves fishing alone until this nice gentleman who was fishing with us earlier came back. When he saw us still here he asked where we parked our vehicle and mentioned that there was no truck there, but some broken glass. We of course quickly left to check out what he was talking about. Surely this was not possible! As we got up the hill, he was right! Our vehicle was gone! No Yukon! We were in complete shock! We called 9-1-1 and started making all the appropriate phone calls. Praise God I had my cell phone and Joe had his wallet. Sadly, his cell phone and my wallet/purse was in the truck. The irony.
The next couple of hours were extremely stressful. I couldn't believe this had happened, but we were told this town had been getting hit hard lately with car theft. In fact the funny part was that the cops had chased a black 2003 Yukon for speeding, but they couldn't catch up so they let him go. Hmmmmm.....
More to come later....

Summer Time Fishing
I love Monroe! It took a while for this town to grow on me, but it is truly beautiful here. We are surrounded by beautiful green trees and gorgeous view of the mountains. Monroe is a small enough town that people know you when you're out doing errands, but growing so you still have modern facilities and a growing economy (well sort of). Joe and I love being only about 40 minutes from the mountains (Stephens Pass) and an hour from Leavenworth. One of our favorite weekend get away places. The other thing that is truly beautiful that Joe loves taking advantage of is our rivers. For a fisherman or someone with the passion of fishing, this is the perfect place to live - there are five rivers 20 miles of us.
Tonight Joe and I went fishing. The season opened last week. I don't have my fishing license yet so I took a chair and a good book and had fun being in the beautiful outdoors with my sweetie, while he tried to "bring home the fish".
Right now it's Steelhead fishing and if you have never had fresh Steelhead before, you don't know what you're missing! Or just let me know and we will have you over for dinner. :) My baby is good about keeping my freezer full of all types of fish and we really enjoy cooking it up several different ways. We have salmon about two to three times a month. Our favorite way is grilling it with Caribbean spices we found on our honeymoon in St. Martin. Yummy!
As you can see from the picture, we had a successful try today. Joe caught a shiny large Steelhead! She was a beauty! Good job baby!
